Caye Caulker Village. Go Slow!
Measuring approximately 5 miles by less than 1 mile, Caye Caulker is a small island located 20 miles off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea and is accessible by high-speed water taxis or small aircrafts. In recent years, the island has become one of Belize’s most popular destinations for backpackers and other tourists. There is a huge underwater cave located below the Caye. With a population of approximately 3,000, the island has 1 clinic (no hospital), 3 cemeteries, 1 high school, and 2 elementary schools. Once on the island, the main means of transport is simply walking, bicycle or golf cart. Even though it is a small island, there are plenty of things to see and do once you’re here!
